The purpose of The i Club is to support projects that will create awareness
of sexual assault and ultimately prevent its occurrence. The i Club's
goals are to educate and raise funds through student formed chapters
of The i Club, collegiate service organizations and others who are committed
to ending sexual violence.
The i Club's current projects are:
- to start Chapters of The i Club in high schools, colleges, and
universities;
- to fund Physical Evidence Recovery Kits (PERKS); DNA testing of
evidence in sexual assault cases; and
- to pay for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) certifications.
Currently, thousands of PERKS are sitting on shelves untested. Victims
go without getting evidence collected for their criminal cases due
to lack of funding. PERKS are generally performed by SANEs. SANE programs
are needed in every hospital in the United States in order to better
assist victims and aid in evidence collection, and currently they
exist in only a fraction of the hospitals.
